Responsive and Interactive Spaces

I was having a conversation with a few 4th years about responsive environments so here are projects by two people I really like at the moment, Metta Ramsgaard Thomsen from Denmark and Phillip Beesley from the UK.

In the world of interactivity and digital design processes, these works manage a wonderful playfullness coupled with a very delicate and fine grain aesthetic. Check them out for more details in the wonderful ways they interface with the public.

All the worlds a Stage: Urban Performances

This has always been an inspiration for when I think about the city as stage. Brodsky and Utkin were collaborators for many hears in Moscow during the 80’s, winning a stream of awards for their exquisit etchings of urban proposals.  Each design critiqued contemporary social, urban and cultural issues, questioning the role of development and consumption in the rapidly changing metropolis.  The project above is a favourite, cross programming the theatre and city in a mobile stage.  The below is beautiful commentry on heritage.
